Weekly Update From Pastor Dennis Watson 7/21-7/27
By Pastor Dennis Watson, Celebration Church
“I’m so glad that we’ve resumed having midweek services because everybody needs a ‘picker-upper’ in the middle of the week.” Those words were spoken to me by several individuals following our Praise & Prayer Night last Wednesday at our Airline Drive campus. Although these individuals are involved weekly in Life Groups where they are developing great friendships, studying the Bible, and getting involved in ministry activities with others, they were glad to know that they could come to the church facility in the middle of the week for worship, prayer, ministry and training.
All 3 of our Campuses are now providing worship and training opportunities on Wednesdays (7 pm), along with ministry activities for children and for teens. For example, at our:
- Metairie Campus - I am teaching for the next 2 weeks a series titled, “MY PRIMARY WISHES FOR YOU AND OUR CHURCH.” We also have at the Metairie Campus our X-Treme Wednesdays Children’s ministry, our Club 56 ministry, and our Des1re Youth ministry service (begins at 7:00 pm). Beginning August 4 for adults, we will have a worship and ministry time at 7 pm, followed by COLLABORATE classes (7:30 pm).
- River Parishes Campus – Pastor Dave is teaching a series titled, “BEING A WITNESS TO THE WITNESSES.” Children’s and Youth Bible studies and activities are also taking place.
- St. Bernard Campus – Pastor Craig is teaching a series titled, “SUPERNATURAL.” Children’s and Youth Bible studies and activities are also taking place.
I hope that you will plan to join us tomorrow evening at one of our campuses for a spirit-filled, teaching-filled and fun-filled time of worship, fellowship and teaching. You will discover that you also like having a “picker-upper” in the middle of the week.
Also this Wednesday at each of our Campuses at 6 pm we will be entertaining questions regarding the proposed sale of our Transcontinental worship facility to the Getsemani Hispanic Church. TA letter sharing the details regarding this proposed sale has been included in our worship bulletins for the past 2 weekends, and can be currently found on our church website (www.celebrationchurch.org ). If you are unable to attend one of the Q & A times, please don’t hesitate to call or send in your questions to Beth Mollere at bethm@celebrationchurch.org or 504.831.9673, (x128), and we will promptly seek to answer your questions. As always, we’re asking all of our people to be praying that we will know and only do God’s will in regards to this proposal before our people. Our intention is to vote on this proposal this coming weekend (July 24-25) in our worship services, but as always, we’re asking all of our people to be praying that we will know and only do God’s will in regards to this proposal before our people.
This coming Friday and Saturday (July 23-24), our Des1re Youth ministry is having a “Victory Explosion” weekend at our Airline Drive Campus Activities Center. This is a great opportunity for teens to get free of the struggles and strongholds in their lives, and experience new power and purpose from the Lord. For more information, contact Lisa Schlesinger at 504.831.9673 (x129).
This coming weekend at our Campuses we are continuing the JOIN THE MOVEMENT series with a message titled, “FINISH THE JOB.” Have you ever known of anyone who “almost succeeded” in living for the Lord or accomplishing His plans and purposes in their life? That person may be “you.” Plan to join us this coming weekend as we learn how to “finish the job” by truly fulfilling the great destiny the Lord has for our lives.
